CFCA welcomes two new members
Chicago, IL — The Chicago Film Critics Association (CFCA), the Chicago-area print, online and broadcast critics group that celebrates the art of film and film criticism, releases their roster for 2020-2021 today, announcing the acceptance of two new members. The new additions represent a new generation in Chicago-based film criticism and bring their voices to one of the country’s longest-standing and most accomplished associations of writers.
With the annual Chicago Critics Film Festival each Spring and the CFCA Awards presented in December, the Chicago Film Critics Association is a vital and thriving organization of film journalists, critics and broadcasters influencing the film industry in Chicago and beyond.
The group is proud to welcome the following new members:
Robert Daniels (he/him) is a freelance film critic who holds an MA in English. He is the founder of 812filmreviews, and is a contributor to RogerEbert.com, Polygon, ThePlaylist, and Consequence of Sound. He is a member of AAFCA, values representation and diversity, and can always be found at a coffee shop.
Cody Corrall (they/them) is a culture critic for the Chicago Reader and Cine-File—among other places on the world wide web—with a focus on genre, identity, and the moving image. They also co-host the weekly podcast "Into the Twilight."
Daniels and Corrall join the organization’s existing membership of more than sixty film critics and journalists based in or with ongoing ties to Chicago. The full roster for 2020-2021 is available here.
Originally slated to be held in May, the 2020 Chicago Critics Film Festival was postponed in March as shelter-in-place orders were implemented around the country; the festival will remain on hiatus during the pandemic, with plans to return safely in 2021. More details to come.
